Greetings and welcome to my website. I am Merlin, occasionally pretentious and oft-longwinded.
I originally started this site as a place to store my thoughts about different television shows and films I was watching, as it's one of my main hobbies yet I sometimes lack a place to put all my thoughts. This is still a monthly (or sometimes bimonthly) habit of mine, although my site is expanding to include other interests on more static-style pages as well. The navigation bar to your left provides an overview of the sort of things I like to write/otherwise post on here. The rest of this blurb is as close as I'll get to a site manifesto right now.
With that expansion is my very slow improvement at html. I started this site with a layout builder and revamped it a few times using similar means. However, in the last few months, I've taken to adding snippets of code myself around the site that I'm very proud of. If you're reading this, it means I was able to set up my own home page, without the help of layout builders. I plan to very slowly alter my other pages in a similar way. It's not perfect, but I made it!
When it comes to designing my layout, my priority is that I want it to be relatively easy to read. My slow learning of html is an attempt to settle into a visually-focused medium, although my true focus is the text I write. It's the reason I created this site--to get the words out of my head and put somewhere. They're not always polished, but that's intentional: it's about routine and becoming comfortable with moving to a new project. And, to some extent, about finding people who might have similar inclinations.
