I started cooking in spring of 2023 and have since grown to love it. I made this page as an easy reference for myself, and I hope it inspires other people as well. Hopefully I can add to it as I find more foods I like to make.
Mains
Substitutions: Sans mushrooms and chicken, add 1 tablespoon of cajun seasoning when adding the peppers.
Substitutions: Sans carrots and peas, sub chickpeas for lentil.
Substitutions: Add zucchini, cook while heating butter.
Street cart-style chickpea bowls
Crunchy curried chickpea bowls
Substitutions: Add extra types of pepper and vegetarian mince at step 1, sans carrots, only kidney beans.
Baking
Substitutions: Sans icing.
Meat Mains
I’m now a vegetarian*, but I wasn’t when I started cooking. Here are some of my favorite recipes from that time:
Spicy pork dan dan noodle ramen
Meatloaves with creamy thyme sauce, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts
Substitutions: sub brussels sprouts with green beans, sub sour cream in potatoes with mayonnaise.
Street cart-style chicken bowls
Substitutions: Alternate recipe with turkey rather than chicken.
